Interview

Hahn:Richard is speaking perfect English. Schneider do you speak a little bit of English or you mostly German?Christoph:No I'm speaking English good but not that good as Richard.

Hahn:See I was surprised cause all day today I was thinking that we were goin' be using our translator which we do have over here ready to go in a little awhile as we tell our nasty, dirty German joke in just a little bit uh...Christoph:He's getting out his dictionary.

Hahn:[laughs] Yeah he's getting ready. One thing I've always been curious about, we've been playing the band for many years on KISS and I want to make sure we've been saying the name right, Rammstein, Rammsteen, I've heard so many different proper names and unproper... what is the name of it?Christoph:You did it right.

Hahn:Rammstein!Christoph:Stein

Hahn:Rammstien?  Rammstein! There you go.Christoph:You have to roll the "R" little bit.

Hahn:Can't roll the "R" I'm white man. Rrrrrrrrrrrr!Christoph:[laughs] Rrrrrrrrrrrrr [they exchange the Rrrrrrrr sound while laughing] Rrrrrrrrrrrrrammstein [then laugh some more]

Hahn:Okay, lets talk about the show man! Rammstein is world famous for the show. How long does it take for the members of the band to come up with the show visually...uh and plan it out, there's so much pyrotechnic work and there's so much visual stimulation how long does that take you to plan this or it's just something that's just .....it's in you man it's just something very natural.Christoph:We didn't plan anything ....it came step by step. Um five years ago we started with this pyro idea... started pretty small, some firecrackers in our hand and then comes one idea after the other and over the years screwing up and a really make a big show out of it and it wasn't plan from the official... laughs. Richard:The only thing we did like before the last record came out because Rrrrr as Schneider said no one was planning, not actually planning the whole thing, but we came up like..we had two months to prepare the whole show like and that was really difficult and it was the first time we ask for help and we were involved with this guy called Roy Banner, I don't know if you know him, he's a light guy from Nine Nich Nail,s he did like Glass Kitchen and stuff, it was the first that we actually did the show together with him in a way. Christoph:He wasn't involve with the pyrotechnics and he did almost like in the stage design and more lights stuff.

Hahn:Now on Sehnsucht, did I say that right...?Christoph:Yes that's right.

Hahn:Alright,  I'm doing okay today. You had an English version of Du hast, on Mutter there were no English translations of the songs. Any plans in the future or you're just going keep it straight to German language or any plans in the future to maybe change some of the songs into English or is that....Richard:The thing work for English version du hast on the Sehnsucht record was just... uh the recorded company ask us for a favor and said can you do it because we wan' know how it works so we did it just because we already open a sense, but they realize that you can not change a this language cause we just wrote the songs for a language we try to fit the music with the language together so we recognized all the VJ's actually in America didn't want to have the English version so play just the German version.

Hahn:Love the German version, English version is cool but I like the German version that's good stuff. What's going to happen for Rammstein after the POA tour? Are ya'll goin do another state side tour or spreadn' out across the world?Christoph:We're going back to Europe and then have the week off and then we play in the European tour and after this week European tour starting in Russia. That we're really excited about!

Hahn:Very cool! And concerning the world events, is that going to hamper any of the tours that ya'lls might be want go to if we break out more bombings is that really prevent Rammstein from traveling throughout Europe, middle east, Asia?Christoph:Nobody can predict the future we don't know what's going on the next day. I heard about the US started the first strike today and they might want us go to Asia and the middle east but I think.... [goes silent]Richard:When I first saw it like but the worst thing for me was that I saw people jumping out of the building or some that really couldn't leave...... and it was something, like really uh......really uh..sadness moment.

Hahn:Yea that was the most shocking part for us.Richard:I never though New York like so friendly that people were friendly to each other and help each other and it was really good to see.

[commercial break presumably]

Hahn:Very good we're talking to the members of Rammstein, Richard and Schneider, they are going on stage tonight at 7 o'clock. Now before I can conclude the interview if I can were goin leave the translate out cause we don't want gets this into English....Tell me quickly a dirty joke in German, tell me something...I don't know, cuss in German I don't care, say something, tell me quick joke, I mean a really quick joke, hello?!Christoph:We need to tell you something.  [It's the same joke from FVT]

Hahn:Okay we won't go with that were going to leave with that. Richard, Schneider I thank you very much for coming back here and talking.Christoph:Thank you a lot and uh... [He starts laughing]Richard:Yeah I want thank you guys as well and enjoy the music and if you come enjoy the show tonight and have fun and bye bye Richard and Schneider.
