Interview

Narrator:Wild things are happening at Babelsberg castle. Where normally only rotten walls and the splended surroundings remind one of old times, the boys of Rammstein have brought the 17th century to life. For a new version of their piece "du riechst so gut" they thought up a creepy story which they really threw themselves into.

Richard:I believe that when you bring a song into another dimension for example, you know, when you give it a story as we have done here by putting it in a fairytale, the song takes on quite another meaning.

Narrator:The love story is magical and wonderfully creepy. Enveloped in white costumes, dusty and drained of blood, the Rammstein boys haunt the elegant property at night. Keyboarder Flake is the first one to make the transformation from a werewolf to a human in the wonderful castle park.

Paul:We are one body made of 6 people and in principle we are one body with six different faces. We change into a white wolf and each time the wolf changes into a person it's someone else.

Narrator:Then comes the appearance of drummer Schneider who with his fine nose is looking amongst the ball guests for the bewitching beauty who lost her nice scented handkerchief in the park. Unfortunately only one of the six rammsteiners can track the idol. The others were all the more pleased that there was a hitch to the romantic kissing scene between singer Till and the 22 year old student, Maja.

Paul:It's four o'clock in the morning, and quite cold. The water isn't heated and they had to simulate rain. And then he has to freeze.

Makeup Artist: And you're all looking forward to it already!

Man off screen: Love amongst colleagues!

Paul:And then for that he gets to kiss the main actress. So that's gotta be worth something!

Narrator:Gradually the beast transforms into the individual Rammstein members and back again. Till's mutation scene in particular was very expensive to produce.

Paul:And then you see the tangible metamorphosis. They made an image of Till out of papier mache and then it breaks apart and a wolf comes out.

Narrator:Till's face mask didn't impress him very much.

Till:The hard wax was pressing on my adams apple and I couldn't swallow, it got on my nerves and it took a long time.

Narrator:Richard also had reason to complain because the director gave him the most unmanly role. His appearance was all in velvet and silk. He patiently let himself be styled and to get the smooth and shiny look of his skin he even let them smear him with eggwhite.

Richard:Why I have to wear dresses? No idea! But I found it somehow funny, and perhaps it's somehow a problem because I can't laugh at myself, perhaps I should try it somehow with the dress, I have no idea!

Narrator:The real stars on the set in addition to the Berlin musicians was a pack of white wolves and although they weren't first choice on the casting list, the cuddly toys displayed great acting talent.

Paul:Actually we wanted hyenas but they're animals that are hard to film. In the Babelsberg animal film club there's no hyenas, you only find them in America and they don't take commands, so we had to fall back on white wolves.

Narrator:In the final scene Till, Olli, Paul, Flake, Schneider and Richard appear in each of their clips again and then together they step out of the picture into the next video, and there remains the sweet smelling beauty in whom the werewolf lives on.
